Examination Procedure Two soft bound copies of the final version of your thesis must be submitted to the Graduate Studies Office. You will be notified by email once your thesis is available in the Apollo repository we aim to have the upload completed in no more than 48 hours so please ensure you supply your current email address. You may submit a hard bound thesis as your first submission, along with all the paperwork listed below for a first submission.
Once all corrections have been made and approved by the Examiners, and notification has been sent to the Board, the hard-bound University Library copy of your dissertation, summary and declaration form, may be submitted to the Board of Graduate Studies, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RZ.

You should also replace your uploaded electronic version of the dissertation with the corrected version. If you are planning to leave the country at the end of your course, you may need to be examined early and should aim to submit your thesis well before the last possible date.
After submitting your two soft-bound dissertation copies to the Board, you should also upload an electronic version in PDF. Review the level of access you wish others to have to your thesis.
After the Board of Graduate Studies meeting, you will receive an email from the Student Registry informing you of the outcome.
If you have completed one of the above research degrees at Cambridge you are invited to submit a copy of your final thesis to the institutional repository, Apollo.
Once the thesis submission is approved, the student will receive a confirmation email. Originals, not photocopies may be used, in which case these must be secured permanently inside the thesis not by use of adhesive tape.
Once you have done this, the electronic version of your dissertation is removed from the files. Revisions must be made and the updated thesis resubmitted to UWSpace for final approval. The oral examination is normally held in the Department within eight weeks of the submission date. If we have appointed examiners for you, we will send out your dissertations within two days of receipt. This must be done well in advance of the final submission.
